A apropriação indevida de recursos genéticos e conhecimentos tradicionais causa uma crescente preocupação entre os povos indígenas do Acre. Casos como, Ayahuasca (Banisteriopsis caapi), o sapo Kambô (phyllomedusa bicolor) e o Cupuaçu (theobroma grandiflorum) alertaram os povos indígenas sobre esta nova forma de “roubo de conhecimento” chamado de Biopirataria. No contexto do projeto “Aldeias Vigilantes: uma nova abordagem na Proteção dos Conhecimentos Tradicionais e no Combate a Biopirataria na Amazônia”, será realizado na Nona Conferencia das Partes da CDB - COP9 o evento paralelo: Haru Kontanawa, Miralda Apurinã, Michael Schmidlehner, Tuwe Kaxinawá, Edina Shanenawa, Toya Manchineri Apoio / Support Realização do evento / Event carried out by ContextThe identity of amazonian indígenous people is based on their profound knowledge about the life forms in the rainforest and the complex connections among them. The misappropriation of genetic resources and traditional knowledge is causing a growing concern among the indigenous people of Acre . Cases such as Ayahuasca (Banisteriopsis caapi), the Kambô frog (phyllomedusa bicolor) and Cupuaçu (theobroma grandiflorum) have alerted indigenous people about this new form of “plunder of knowledge” called Biopiracy.
